Antonio Hobson

CEO, A-Tonal Soul Music

Antonio Hobson, born and raised in Memphis, TN, began his musical journey with Orff instruments in elementary school. He was also vocally trained in the New Salem Youth Male Chorus Choir and The Scenic Hills Elementary School choir. He transitioned to middle school and joined the Raleigh Egypt Middle School stage band class, where he picked up his first alto saxophone. He excelled in the saxophone and was awarded the opportunity to join the Raleigh Egypt High School Concert band while in middle school.

From 2000 to 2003, he participated in the Raleigh Egypt High School Marching Band, Concert Band, Pep Band, and Stage Band, becoming the first freshman section leader in Raleigh Egypt Band History. He was awarded the Louis Armstrong National Jazz Award and received scholarships to five accredited universities. Hobson continued his music education and became the youngest band director in East St. John High School in Reserve, LA, raising over $50,000 for the music and auxiliary programs.

In 2018, he became a General Music Teacher for Power Center Academy Middle/Elementary, teaching basic musical principals through theory and notation. He also helped revamp their music program post-pandemic, setting up multiple performance programs that allowed students to participate in front of their family and peers.

After returning from his tenure in Louisiana as a band director, Hobson began performing at local Memphis establishments like Brinson's and the In The Loop artist showcase. In 2014, he was invited to exile to the top of "The Best In The City" and joined the B.B. King Corporation, where he performed on cruise ships worldwide. He was selected for television commercials, special publications, and the first ever DVD recording.

In November 2018, Hobson started his music performance and recording company "A-Tonal Soul Music," where he currently resides as the co-founder and CEO. He has performed on the University of Tennessee Rocky Top Football Commercial, released music with Grammy nominated Memphis Hip Hop artist Marco Pave, and shared the stage with top saxophonists such as Boney James, Gerald Albright, David, and Kirk Whalum.
